This is the timeline of my final pictures.

My Film Noir Poster

This is my film noir final poster. The title says "The silent secrets of Mary Jane" and the tagline says " Tormented by an unknown fear, haunted by unknown enemy" I myself don't know what would the storyline of the film would be, but the main part its obvious, Mary Jane has silent secrets. Silent because she does not tell anyone or maybe because its just in her head.

Comparison of Double Indemnity & Sin City

The are many differences between Sin City and Double Indemnity. One and I think most powerful difference is how women are treated in both movies. Sin City sees women as an sexual object, they are not respected, beaten by men and violent. In Double Indemnity they're dominating and seductive. They have power over the men. There are some characteristics in Sin City which have colors like red lipstick/dress/sky, blonde hair, yellow character. Whereas Double Indemnity is only in black and white.
Also the killing scenes are not graphically depicted, the killings are more subtle and implied, whereas in Sin City, brutal scenes of gore and violence are common place, due to it's comic book nature.

Double Indemnity

Black and white film noir movie, starts with a dark and mysterious figure.

The shadow of the hat is covering the mans face. He walks into the dark room where only moonlight is softly brightening up the figure. The mans turns on the lamp, he sat in the chair and lit the cigarette as he recorded the story of his crime. He killed for money and a women - didn't get either. 

But I'm not here to write the whole story of Double Indemnity. The point of this is to describe the the key objectives of film noir that Double Indemnity has. As film noir is usually know to be a Hollywood crime dramas it means it obviously will involve killing. Also a very important point in the film is how powerful the women are. As soon as the beautiful women walks into the room you can tell her domination and power over the man, as he became polite and couldn't stop smiling. He did not dare to look away as she was speaking. The woman is seductive and flirty but also sly. Whereas the man, as soon as he left the door he was thinking about her and every little detail of her like for example: her perfume, ring. They both knew it wasn't the end of them. It was just a beginning. They planned a crime together to kill the woman's husband and at the same time get accident insurance on him to have the money. Seems like a perfect crime. They missed out few details the the insurance

company might consider. It became hard for them to contact each other as they didn't want to get caught. The last night of them ever seeing each other ended up with death. The man came over to his beloved's house. She was proudly sitting on the arm chair, smoking a cigarette. The only thing the man didn't know was that she hid a gun under a cushion of her hair. When he was shutting the windows she shot him in his shoulder, but she didn't not have courage to shoot again. The man slowly walked over to her and grabbed a gun from her hand he said "Goodbye" to her and killed her. That's when he made his way to the office to record the story. As he was leaving, he fell by the door and lit the last cigarette.

Sin City

Sin City is a 2005 movie created in a film noir style. It is in black and white but it has some colors too, like for example: red dress and lipstick, blonde hair, red sky. In the movie women are seen as an object and are not respected. Some parts of the movie look like they've been taken out of a comic book.
They're seem to be unreal and over powered. Good example, when one man over powers 10 policemen and easily breaks the door, or when another man jumps off the 5 floor of the block and he's absolutely fine. There is loads of violence in the movie, and the violent scenes show how brutally people are murdered. Sometime its with the bare hands of a man. The characters use modern slang language.  Sin City is a film noir movie amalgamated with comic book stylings and motifs.

Definition of Film Noir

Film noir is a word for 'black film' in French. It is style of movies associated with low-key black & white style. It's also a term used to describe Hollywood crime dramas. This style started in the early 1940s till late 1950s.
It first applied to Hollywood films by French critic Nino Frank in 1946, and it was unknown to most American film industry professionals of the classic era.
Film noir focuses on the darker side of human nature, it's permanent state of melancholy that comes from the dark settings and lack of color portray it's gritty realistic dramas, and thrilling crimes, using suspense and tension to entertain and blunt realism to shock the audience A sharp contrast to the joyous song filled magical adventures  of the technicolor films.
Although film noir is not only for film buffs and academics. The film-makers of the 40′s and 50′s were not making “film noir” movies, they were making pictures for a wide audience which are still immensely entertaining.
